Tips To Grow Comfrey

Comfrey Symphytum officinale and is a herbaceous plant native to Europe. Most gardeners grow this perennial herb in the garden, in the first place, because it's mauve flowers look beautiful when they bloom, and secondly, because the benefits. Comfrey leaves are used in soil and fed to cattle, sheep, poultry, horses and other animals. This is an excellent weed barrier and soil conditioner. For those who wish to take advantage of this plant, here are some tips to grow, which consolidates the work easy.

Comfrey Tips

* Comfrey requires a good amount of sunlight to grow well. Therefore, a reception area to direct sunlight should be selected to grow this plant. If this area is not available, also can be grown in a shaded area in whole or in part, because he can not tolerate failure too, but it's best to choose an open space for planting.

* The grass has a deep root system, because it leaves no room for them in shallow soils. It requires a well-manured soil, and therefore, the addition of fertilizer in regularly to enrich the soil so that it can support plant growth.

* Although the plant has specific pH requirements, it is best to grow it in a soil pH ranging from neutral to acidic. A pH between 6.0 to 7.0 is best for comfrey.

* Avoid the grass grows thin, chalky soil, but if you need to do so, you can dig deep into the soil and place the cuts. Put the cuttings in clay soils, planting is best to plant them shallow and deeper if the soil is sandy.

* The grass can be propagated by seeds, cuttings or cuttings of the root crown. If the seeds are used for propagation, you must give them a worrying period in the winter to trigger germination. Several times, the seeds take 2 years to germinate. You can use the cuttings from the crown instead of root, if you want the grass to grow rapidly, but they are slightly more expensive than root cuttings.

* Root cuttings are usually 2-6 inches long. They should be planted horizontally in the ground about 2-8 cm deep from the surface. When planting several cuttings, make sure that the space at a meter so you have plenty of room for growth.

* Planting should occur during the spring in cold climates and during the rainy season in areas with warm and tropical.

* Root cuttings should be planted before September, when the Crown divisions can be planted until early October.

* Regular watering and fertilizing the soil with compost is needed to support the healthy growth of the plant.

* Prune leaves near the bottom of the plant at regular intervals to facilitate flowering because the plant would use all its nutrients to produce more leaves than flowers.

* Plant to take in their care, when it is well established in the soil. It will develop a root system, which becomes denser, year after year to become resistant to drought.

* Parasites usually cause no problem for the growing plant. Comfrey rust is known to induce roots in Britain, however, that does not occur in the United States.

* If the main purpose behind the leaves are collected more comfrey, it is better to wait until the plant should be 2 feet long before the first intervention. Early harvesting of the plant affect its ability to bring the flowers in a timely manner.

Movie Theater Grace (Day 2)

I sat in the movie theater tonight and watched Courageous with my children.... at one point I thought how blessed I am to have all 4 of them here, sorta within arms reach! .... with my daughter laughing about our take a handful and pass it down/take a sip and pass it down sharing of popcorn and rootbeer (shoot me if you wish but I am not buying one for each of us at those prices!) .... watching my oldest son piggyback my oldest daughter across the parking lot .... shopping in Walmart together ....
breathing in the quiet knowing that they are all with me and they all want to be together .... the small things are indeed beautiful ....

Day 1: Grace

In trying to think of what I'd like to write on for this 31 day challenge I kept coming up with things others were already doing, yes I know we can copy but still.... I couldn't settle on one thing. So as I said before, I decided to do Grace in all it's forms ..... since everything I thought of is only held together by God's Grace I think it works... right?
So what is Grace? What do you think of when someone says that? (please tell me in the comments)  ....Here's a few definitions:
  • Dictionary.Com (Interesting isn't it? The difference between the two... but that's another post! :))

The Greek Lexicon says this: Grace(Charis)

  1. grace
    1. that which affords joy, pleasure, delight, sweetness, charm, loveliness: grace of speech
  2. good will, loving-kindness, favour
    1. of the merciful kindness by which God, exerting his holy influence upon souls, turns them to Christ, keeps, strengthens, increases them in Christian faith, knowledge, affection, and kindles them to the exercise of the Christian virtues
  3. what is due to grace
    1. the spiritual condition of one governed by the power of divine grace
    2. the token or proof of grace, benefit
      1. a gift of grace
      2. benefit, bounty
  4. thanks, (for benefits, services, favours), recompense, reward

So grace then could be said to be that which takes our breath and causes this heart swell of beauty, the longing for true beauty only found in the one who created it. But also the gift we so do not deserve ....

I chose the gorgeous tree above (from here) because it's October and all our trees are starting to change here, and I thought it was perfect for talking about how God's grace changes us into something beautiful even in our ordinariness and also how His grace like the leaves showers and falls down upon us leaving us "littered" in gorgeousness ......  that we become more beautiful as we are willing to die to ourselves and live for Him.

I am certainly not the poet nor the photographer that Ann Voskamp is but her book got me thinking along these lines and I hope to flesh it out more in the days to come .... to really think about what does it mean to live in Grace or gracefully, perhaps Grace-Full? What does it look like and to notice the gifts of Grace in my daily life. I apologize if this post is disjointed or rambly, I am tired from long nights yet thankful even for that Grace that my son and my daughter's beau were able to go see the movie Courageous and both said it was life changing! Thankful that A could be here to take R whilst hubby is away ..... I hope you will join me for this month! :)

(ps I will also be trying to revamp my blog along the way !)

31 Days...

This is a challenge given for a bloggy writing assignment! I decided to join because I want to write more on my blog and cause it just sounded like fun! You can find links for all kinds of topics at The Inspired Room ...

I decided to do 31 days of Grace .... I had all sorts of ideas but just couldn't seem to settle on one and the deadline was fast approaching! The past year I read Ann Voskamp's "1000 gifts" and have been truly inspired to look for God's grace more often in my life!

SO ... this month I will be posting daily on the grace I see in my life, posts, photos, maybe even just a quote or a sentence. The point is to post everyday.

I've got more to say today but for now I wanted to get my link going etc .... see ya everyday this month! Right here in the midst of it ....
